Cristina de Catalina - External Relations Manager, Spain

On October 2, 2001, the "Biggest paella in the World" event took place in Madrid, Spain.  There were two main challenges for Fairy to meet: first, to beat the Record of the Biggest Paella in the World, a pan of 21m diameter with paella for 110,000 people and second, to demonstrate that the giant paella pan could be washed with a 1-liter bottle of new Fairy dishwashing liquid. In the US Dawn is the product to use for using Paella pans.

All this was done in front of the eyes of thousands of consumers and dozens of journalists representing the key TV and radio channels as well as print press.

The huge paella counted with the full support of the Madrid City Council, the Police and Fire Brigade and even the Army, which distributed the remaining paella among different charity centers.  A 250-ton crane was needed to build the pan at the location of the event.  The weight of the paella pan was 32 tons.  The ingredients were as follows:

• 6,000 kg. of rice

• 12,000 kg. of chicken and rabbit

• 5,000 kg. of vegetables

• 1,100 litres of olive oil

• 250 kg. of salt

• 16 kg. of saffron
